Culinary Tip of the Day!- Save that Parchment – Butter Wrapper Pan Liners!
Parchment paper is a staple in my kitchen. I use it constantly so making it last is helpful. Many recipes suggest lining your cake pans with parchment to help them release. I highly recommend this prep procedure paired with greasing and flouring pans for easy cake removal. I’ve got a wonderful tip here that will aid in preserving your parchment paper supply.
You might have heard that you can use your butter wrappers (left from your butter used in the cake or buttercream recipes) to grease your cake pans. Take it a step further and place the wrapper in the bottom of the pan for lining instead of using parchment rounds. Butter wrappers are parchment so use those babies! It doesn’t have to completely line the pan. It can be placed in the center of the pan and aid in releasing your cakes. Use multiples if the pans are larger. Still be sure to butter and flour, or spray, your pans in conjunction with the butter wrapper liner.
It’s a wonderful way to minimize waste and make good use of the wrappers that you usually would just toss. Just remember to peel them off the cake’s bottom before icing your delicious cake. Unless you enjoy eating paper with your cake. I would’t suggest it, but everyone has a different palate. Happy baking! I hope this little tip helps!
